I have always been a big fan of the old-fashioned barter system. If you know a photographer, trade him or her a
CD or two to take a good headshot or group shot of you or your band. A photo is not necessary, but it draws
attention to your uniqueness, and can be helpful in achieving coverage. I would recommend contacting local
college photography departments and get a student to take your photos. He or she could add the photos to a
portfolio for future gain.
The best way to get a really good photo is to take as many as you can. If you know someone with a GOOD digital camera ask them to borrow it or take photos for you. (DO NOT USE A BAD QUALITY CAMERA, the finished product will look bad) Take as many as you can, and by that I mean 100 or more. Then, if you have a digital, you only have to look at them on-screen, you don't have to print them and waste money on bad photos. You want to choose a photo that either makes you look really good, or makes you stand out from other photos as different. It's your choice what image you want to project.
