Taking A Great Press Photo

I have always been a big fan of the old-fashioned barter system. If you know a photographer, trade him or her a CD or two to take a good headshot or group shot of you or your band. A photo is not necessary, but it draws attention to your uniqueness, and can be helpful in achieving coverage. I would recommend contacting local college photography departments and get a student to take your photos. He or she could add the photos to a portfolio for future gain.

The best way to get a really good photo is to take as many as you can. If you know someone with a GOOD digital camera ask them to borrow it or take photos for you. (DO NOT USE A BAD QUALITY CAMERA, the finished product will look bad) Take as many as you can, and by that I mean 100 or more. Then, if you have a digital, you only have to look at them on-screen, you don't have to print them and waste money on bad photos. You want to choose a photo that either makes you look really good, or makes you stand out from other photos as different. It's your choice what image you want to project.

Many sample press photos of Tanya can be found here, like the one below.

Please note: This page is called "D.I.Y. Media CentRE" as opposed to "D.I.Y. Media CentER" because I am Canadian, and that's who we spell it, but in the interest of receiving seach engine traffic, I have changed the spelling back and forth throughout the pages. Feel free to complain if you don't like it, or point out any other spelling mistakes, as I am sure there are many. Thank you for visiting. BUY MY CD!
